About ARTSBRIDGE

History: ARTSBRIDGE had its beginnings in 1986 when 250 citizens, representing a broad cross-section of the community, got together to formulate a Cultural Action Plan for the Mid-Ohio Valley. From that comprehensive plan emerged ARTSBRIDGE, the arts service agency for Wood County, West Virginia, and Washington County, Ohio. Goals and objectives were reviewed and updated in 1995, and a new strategic plan was created and implemented in 2007 through 2010. ARTSBRIDGE has offices in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Marietta, Ohio, and five staff people who carry out the three main programs: United Arts Fund, Arts Services, and Arts Education.

Mission: The purpose of ARTSBRIDGE is to improve the quality of life in the Mid-Ohio Valley by promoting and supporting the arts through financial and technical support, and arts education in our schools and community. To accomplish this mission, the objectives of ARTSBRIDGE are:

2. To maintain and develop arts education opportunities in the schools and communities.

3. To strengthen technical capabilities for qualifying arts organizations & individual artists

4. To develop awareness of arts activities and the role of AB in the community we serve.

5. To facilitate cooperation among arts organizations and artists.

6. To maintain a presence in community planning and development activities.
