John Sherwood                Musical Storyteller

John presents "Holidays and Heroes " which includes stories and tales about heroic characters like Paul Revere, Johnny Appleseed, Mark Twain,Molly Pitcher, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King.  The program focuses on character development and the strengths of men and women who successfully face difficult challenges.  John accompanies himself on guitar, adding music to the mix and encourages student participation and interaction.

Grades K-6; 45 minutes; availability-flexible with notice/prefer block bookings; required: one armless chair.

John Sherwood studied guitar with Dr. Nels Leonard at West Liberty College and music with Michael Cassidy.  He has studied with ARTSBRIDGE storyteller Andy Fraenkel and participated in numerous creative workshops.  John is the co-founder and director of "A Voice We Bring", a non-profit organization that brings storytelling and music to hospitals.  He is the author of a children's book, The Sun Calling Contest, illustrated by his wife, Christine.
