John Horne Guitarist
John's "informances" present a variety of guitars and types of music following the guitar from its ancestry as a Spanish folk instrument through its development into American-designed steel-string and electric guitars. Short performances of classical, blues, Jazz, and rock music on idiomatic instruments demonstrate how each instrument's unique sound impacted our music and culture.. Age levels: K-6 and 7-9 Time: approx. 45 minutes Availability: flexible with notice Requirements: an armless chair; microphone system if in larger room. A graduate of Duquesne University of Music in Pittsburgh John now resides in Athens, Ohio performing regularly and running a bustling teaching practice. John has given lessons and workshops for students at the National Guitar Workshop and Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch Guitar Camp and works with several arts organizations to present informances and residencies at area elementary and middle schools.
