Michelle Cornell - Theatrical Storytelling
Michelle uses colorful props and puppets for programs for K-2 "Winter's Tales" features baby bear puppet who learns about hibernation: "Young Bear" introduces stories/songs that celebrate the winter season. "Beauty Flies, Butterflies!" -the world's most treasured insect inspires these stories, songs and poems. Grade 2-3 will love tales in "The Problem Solvers", folktales from oral traditions which feature clever characters who use their wits to overcome difficulties. This year, Michelle adds a new program for grades 4-6, "Myths and Legends from Ancient Times", stories from Egypt, Greece, China and other civilisations examining cultural traditions, beliefs, and heroes. *Please, block bookings are strongly recommended, a minimum of two units is required.
Age level: grades K-6 Time: approx. 45 minutes. Availabilitly: September 2010 to December 2010; March, 2011 to June, 2011. Block booking preferred. Requirements: large classroom or library with open space; in larger areas, a microphone on a stand will be needed.
Michelle received her B.A. in Theater at Evergreen State College, her M.F.A. in Theater at Ohio University, and her M.S.T. (Education) at SUNY Plattsburgh. She taught drama at Columbus Children's Theater, Thurber House, Muse Machine in Dayton, OH. Michelle is a storyteller for the Greater Columbus Arts Council; Artists in Schools Program. She works as an actor with Cosi's Spectrum Players and the Piatt Castles of West Liberty.
