Patty Cooper - Living History

Patty presents a choice of fascinating historical characters that she brings to life in her captivating presentations: "Mad" Anne Bailey, the only female Revolutionary War scout and heroine of the Kanawah Valley; Betsy Ross and the history of our flag; Victorian School Marm, Miss Icie Henderson, recreating a one room school room experience circa 1900. Other characters Patty portrays: Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Belle Boyd, Mary Jemison, Anna Jarvis, and Eleanor Roosevelt. Patty will be adding Amelia Earhart and Laura Ingalls Wilder to her selections this fall. Patty also presents a "Pioneer Living Skills" program which includes spinning, knitting, and candledipping. Bring history into your classroom through the arts!

Age level: 1-6 time: approximately 45 minutes Availability: flexible with ample notice; classroom or library setting for historical characters; classroom for pioneer skills.

Patty has an Associate degree in Applied Science and has worked as a historical interpreter on Blennerhassett Island State Park. She has lectured, taught, and given workshops and demonstrations at fairs and festivals on antique needlework, tools, and rughooking. Patty is a member of Pioneer Fibercrafters Guild, the Daughters of American Pioneers, Wood County Historical Society, and has been a Wood County 4 H leader for the past 13 years and is a member of the West Virginia Humanities Council History Alive program.
